What's Happening in Greater Dayton: Early August to September 2026 Events
The early part of August picks up where July leaves off with a packed calendar of festivals, food events, art fairs, and live music across the communities Glasshouse Realty serves. From the opening weekend of the Ohio Renaissance Festival in Waynesville to a blues supergroup headlining in downtown Springfield, there is no shortage of reasons to get out and explore Southwest Ohio in the weeks ahead.

Springfield Jazz & Blues Festival
Springfield · August 7-8, 2026
Now in its fifth year, the Springfield Jazz & Blues Festival has quickly become one of the premier music events in Southwest Ohio. Held at National Road Commons Park and Mother Stewart's Brewing Company in downtown Springfield, the festival runs Friday and Saturday, August 7-8, with free admission both days.
This year's lineup includes 17 national, regional, and local acts across multiple stages. The closing headliner is Super Blue, a supergroup led by Grammy-nominated vocalist Kurt Elling (known for his role in Hadestown) alongside guitarist Charlie Hunter and two-time Grammy-winning drummer Nate Smith. The Johnny Lytle Stage lineup features Dean Simm's Satchmo Show, the Brandon Meeks Quartet, a tribute to Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley by Jolie Demesmin and Chris Andrews, the Bobby Floyd B3 Trio, and Tito Puente Jr. In addition to the music, the festival offers food trucks, vendor booths, a children's activity area, and a courtesy cab shuttle between stages. It is an event that brings the entire community together around a shared love of live music.
Bites in the Heights
Huber Heights · August 8, 2026
The 8th Annual Bites in the Heights brings Dayton-area food trucks, family activities, and a cruise-in car show together for a full day of food and fun. The event runs Saturday, August 8 from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM at the Rose Music Center at The Heights.
Food trucks from across the region line the venue with everything from barbecue and Mexican fare to sweets and specialty drinks. The car show draws a crowd of its own, with classic cars, hot rods, and custom builds on display throughout the afternoon. Kids will find plenty to do with dedicated children's activities, and the outdoor setting at the Rose Music Center makes for a beautiful late-summer evening. It is the kind of community event where you can grab dinner from a truck you have never tried, admire a vintage Corvette, and watch the sunset over the concert venue all in one stop.
Art on the Commons
Kettering · August 9, 2026
The 38th Annual Art on the Commons brings more than 100 juried artists from across the country to Lincoln Park Civic Commons in Kettering on Sunday, August 9 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This fine arts and crafts festival has been a Kettering tradition for nearly four decades, and it remains one of the most anticipated cultural events in the area.
The festival features artists working in painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, jewelry, glass, wood, and mixed media. Live music plays throughout the day, and food vendors keep things running from lunch through the afternoon. Whether you are an experienced collector or simply enjoy browsing beautiful work, Art on the Commons offers a relaxed, walkable setting to discover something new. It is also a great reminder that Kettering's commitment to arts and culture runs deep, and events like this help make the community a vibrant place to live.
Party in the Park

Centerville's Party in the Park returns to Stubbs Park on Friday, August 14 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM for an evening of family-friendly fun hosted by Heart of Centerville Washington Township. This free community event brings neighbors together for an outdoor celebration that captures everything people love about Centerville.
The evening features live music, children's activities, food vendors, and the chance to connect with local organizations and community groups. Stubbs Park provides a beautiful setting with its open green space, walking paths, and shaded pavilions. It is the kind of event where kids run around on the grass while parents catch up with neighbors and enjoy a warm summer evening. Centerville is a community that shows up for its gatherings, and Party in the Park is a perfect example of that spirit in action.
Troy PorchFest
Troy · September 12, 2026
Troy PorchFest returns on Saturday, September 12 from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, turning the city's Southwest Historic District into one giant, walkable music venue. The concept is simple: homeowners offer their front porches as stages, and approximately 40 bands set up and play for the neighborhood. Presented by the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, admission is completely free.
The festival kicks off at 10:30 AM with the Troy High School Marching Band marching through the streets and performing on the Hayner front lawn. Throughout the day, porches host a wide range of musical genres including rock, blues, country, bluegrass, Americana, and indie. Food trucks and vendors set up on North Short Street, and attendees are encouraged to walk from porch to porch, discovering new music around every corner. PorchFest captures the best of what makes Troy special: a community that values the arts, embraces its historic architecture, and knows how to throw a party that brings everyone together.
